One Person Injured During String of Overnight Fires

The Yakima Fire Department (YFD) responded to three fires in little more than an hour overnight.

Firefighters Called to Fire outside Salvation Army Thrift Store

Yakima Fire Department (YFD) crews responded to a fire early this morning, Friday, April 24th, adjacent to the Salvation Army Thrift Store at 9 South 6th Avenue.

YFD was alerted to the fire at about 5:15 am today. Firefighters found approximately 100 empty pallets, 50 pallets of books and 50 bales of cardboard burning at a storage lot next to the building. » Read more

fires in a span of just over six hours, from about 9:30 pm Monday, March 30th,
through 3:40 am Tuesday, March 31st.

The first of the seven overnight fires involved one

Daylight Saving Time Begins March 8th

Daylight
saving time will officially begin at 2:00 am on Sunday, March 8th.
Clocks are set ahead one hour and many people set their clocks to “spring
forward” before they go to bed the night before, in this case Saturday, March 7th.

Council suggest also taking the opportunity to conduct safety checks around your

Thanks to alert action
by a child, a family of four was able to safely escape a house fire early this
morning, Tuesday, January 14th in the 900 block of South 8th
Street.

At 4:10 am
today, Tuesday, Yakima Fire Department (YFD) crews were called to the home,
where a family with two children had already escaped after one of the children woke
