A home in the 800 block of South 59th Avenue sustained an estimated $250,000 in damages as the result of a structure fire Monday night. No injuries were reported.
Yakima Fire Department (YFD) crews were called to the scene at 9:15 pm Monday night. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the roof vents. The fire was located mostly in the left corner of the back of the house. The attic was fully charged with smoke.
Almost four hours were required for overhaul. That included pinpointing the location of the fire extension into the attic.
The residence sustained massive damage, including complete loss of the roof. The loss also included sections of the residence, including the master bedroom and bathroom and a living room area.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
