YFD Responds to Restaurant Fire in Union Gap

Yakima Fire Department (YFD) firefighters responded to a structure fire in Union Gap on Sunday that caused an estimated $1.8 million in damages. No injuries were reported from the fire.

YFD was called to 2512 Main Street at 4:32 pm Sunday, September 4th, in response to a report of fire from the roof of a restaurant.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke coming from the roof. A second alarm was issued asking for more resources at the scene. The fire was declared out after approximately 90 minutes. The restaurant’s roof and contents were severely damaged.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Approximately 40 firefighters responded to the scene. YFD received assistance from the Gleed, Selah, West Valley and Yakima Training Center fire departments. The Union Gap Police Department assisted at the scene.
