A structure fire injured two people yesterday, Thursday, in the 500 block of North 22nd Avenue. The two civilians injured were transported by ambulance to the hospital. No firefighters were injured.
Yakima Fire Department (YFD) firefighters were called to the scene at 2:45 pm yesterday. First-arriving crews found a large amount of smoke and fire coming from the back of the residential structure. Crews responded quickly and were able to prevent the fire from threatening any other structures.
The estimated dollar loss is $180,000. The home sustained significant damage to its living space and in the attic.
A total of 19 firefighters responded to the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
