Alley Fire Damages Home on South 3rd Street

Yakima Fire Department (YFD) responded to a fire last night, Wednesday, July 10th, in the 400 of South 3rd Street.

Jeremy Rodriguez, a 22-year employee with YFD, began his new role as Deputy Fire Chief this week.

Fire Code Inspections Aiding Firefighters

Regular fire
code inspections by the Yakima Fire Department (YFD) are proving beneficial.

An apartment
building fire earlier this month, for example, was limited to just one room in
one apartment thanks to quick action by YFD firefighters and the fact that
smoke alarms and other safety features had been recently updated to meet City

Yakima Firefighters Conduct Airport Training

Yakima Fire Department (YFD) firefighters trained last week at Yakima Air Terminal-McAllister Field.

“The goal is to reinforce our skills and capabilities to extinguish a fire aboard an aircraft,” said Yakima Deputy Fire Chief Patrick Reid.
