Fire Prevention Week 2023 Begins Oct. 8th

The Yakima Fire Department (YFD) is partnering with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to promote National Fire Prevention Week, which begins Sunday, October 8th, and continues through Saturday, October 14th. The 2023 campaign theme is, “Cooking safety starts with YOU.”

YFD Responds to D Street Bin Fire

Yakima Fire Department (YFD) firefighters responded to a fire last night, Sunday, involving apple bins and pallets in the 100 block of West D Street.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 8:21 pm Sunday, July 23rd, and found apple bins and pallets fully involved in fire.

YFD, KVFR form Central Washington Fire Training Academy

The Yakima Fire Department (YFD) and Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue (KVFR) have partnered to form the Central Washington Fire Training Academy (CWFTA).

Through CWFTA, firefighters from both agencies learn the essentials of firefighting, wildland firefighting, as well as responding to incidents involving medical issues and hazardous materials.

YFD Responds to N. 34th Ave Structure Fire

Yakima Fire Department (YFD) firefighters responded to a residential structure fire Thursday afternoon in the 1000 block of North 34th Avenue.

YFD was called to the scene at 3:07 pm Thursday, March 23rd. Upon arrival, crews found a single-story manufactured home with smoke coming out of the attic and living space. No one was inside the residence and no injuries were reported. » Read more

North 34th Avenue Structure Fire Injures One Person

Yakima Fire Department (YFD) firefighters responded to a commercial residential structure fire early Friday morning in the 600 block of North 34th Avenue that injured one person.

YFD was called to the scene at 1:20 am Friday, December 30th. Upon arrival, crews found the facility’s alarm and automatic sprinkler systems were activated. There was an active fire in one of the rooms. » Read more

YFD Responds to Structure Fire on S. 80th Avenue

Yakima Fire Department (YFD) firefighters responded to a structure fire early Tuesday morning, November 29th, in the 900 block of South 80th Avenue that caused an estimated $100,000 in damages. No injuries were reported from the fire.

Two Injured in Structure Fire

A structure fire injured two people yesterday, Thursday, in the 500 block of North 22nd Avenue. The two civilians injured were transported by ambulance to the hospital. No firefighters were injured.
