Yakima Fire Department (YFD) crews responded this morning, Friday, April 26th, to a fire in the 700 block of North 1st Street. (It is the practice of the Yakima Fire Department to not release the specific address of a private home involved in a fire or other emergency response)
YFD responded to the call at 10:55 am today, Friday, and found smoke coming from the structure. Crews extinguished the exterior fire quickly and checked the building’s interior. Smoke removal was completed. There were no occupants in the building during the incident.
The fire caused damage to exterior fencing and one corner of the structure.
The initial estimated dollar loss was $10,000. The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation at this time.
Approximately 18 YFD firefighters were on scene responding to the fire.
The Yakima Police Department provided mutual aid.
