Structure Fire Displaces Two People, One Person Injured

Two people were evacuated Thursday night, one of them injured, due to a structure fire that destroyed a mobile home in the 7900 block of West Nob Hill Boulevard. (It is the practice of the Yakima Fire Department to not release the specific address of a private home involved in a fire or other emergency response)

Yakima Fire Department (YFD) crews responded to the call at 9:21 pm last night, Thursday, and the two occupants had evacuated the home before crews arrived.

One of the occupants received second-degree burns to his right arm and was transported to a local hospital.

The fire did severe damage to the kitchen area and burned through the roof of the single-wide mobile home. There was enough smoke and heat damage that the mobile home and its contents were considered a total loss. Damages were estimated at $35,000.

The occupants who evacuated the home are staying with family members in the area.

Approximately 25 YFD firefighters were on scene responding to the fire. The West Valley Fire Department also responded, providing mutual aid.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and is under investigation.
