Damage to a home in the 3900 block of West Lincoln Avenue is estimated at $50,000 following a fire this afternoon, Friday, June 26th. (It is the practice of the Yakima Fire Department to not release the specific address of a private home involved in a fire or other emergency response.)
The Yakima Fire Department (YFD) was called to the scene at 3:20 pm today. Crews found a large amount of smoke coming from the attic vents on both ends of the house. They also found fire inside the house.
There were no injuries reported. The home’s one occupant was out of the house at the time the fire started. He did not require assistance from the Red Cross.
The house’s interior and attic sustained extensive damage. Most of the belongings were lost in the fire.
Firefighters were on scene for nearly two hours. One crew remained on scene afterward to make sure the fire was completely out.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it was determined to be accidental.
Lincoln Avenue was closed in both directions while firefighters battled the blaze. Travel in both directions was opened by 5:15 pm. The Yakima Police Department assisted with traffic control
The Yakima Training Center assisted at the scene.
