YFD Responds to Two Fires at North 4th Street House

A structure fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damages to a house in the 600 block of North 4th Street last night, Wednesday.

Yakima Fire Department (YFD) firefighters were called to the scene at 8:10 pm Wednesday. They found a fire involving the exterior of a garage on the alley side of the structure between 3rd and 4th Streets. The fire extended into the garage and up into the gable and attic. It also damaged an upstairs apartment.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Twenty firefighters responded. The Yakima Training Center Fire Department assisted at the scene.

It was YFD’s second response to the house in a span of about three hours yesterday.

At 4:59 pm Wednesday, YFD crews responded to a previous fire at that location involving rubbish next to the garage door. Damages from that fire were estimated at $100.

Upon further investigation in response to the second fire yesterday, it appeared there was also an interior fire in the structure from a previous date.
