Yakima Fire Department (YFD) crews responded to a residential structure fire in the 200 block of South 47th Avenue early this morning, Tuesday, which injured one person.
YFD was called to the residence at 1:51 am Tuesday morning. Crews arrived to find a single-story residence with fire involved in the front side of the house. The occupant had been burned in the fire prior to exiting the structure. He was given medical aid and transported to the hospital.
There were no other injuries.
Crews contained the fire from the exterior before entering the building and continuing operations. Overhaul operations and the investigation began after the fire was controlled.
The damage, with an estimated loss of $300,000, involved the majority of the living space and extended into the attic.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
A total of 16 firefighters responded to the scene.
