Yakima Fire Department (YFD) crews responded to a fire this morning, Thursday, September 26th, in the 1400 block of North Gordon Road.
YFD responded to the call at 4:30 am this morning and found a large stack of apple bins on fire next to a fruit warehouse. YFD crews quickly applied water to prevent the warehouse from catching on fire and to prevent the fire from spreading to other stacks of bins.
Approximately 200 apple bins were destroyed by the fire. There was heat damage to the wall and roof of the warehouse. The total dollar loss is not available at this time.
The fire is considered to be suspicious and is under investigation at this time. The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has been called to assist with the investigation.
