S. 16th Ave. Fire Displaces Six People, Injures One

Six people are being assisted by the Red Cross today, Wednesday, March 31st, after a fire in the 800 block of South 16th Avenue displaced them. All occupants of the two-story home were able to escape, with one person requiring medical treatment for burns.

Yakima Fire Department (YFD) firefighters were called to the scene at 2:34 pm today. Crews arrived to find the house fully involved in flames with fire spreading to adjacent homes.

Damages are estimated at $200,000. The home was severely damaged by the blaze. There was fire damage to the neighboring property.

YFD firefighters were on scene for more than two hours.

The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical.
