Yakima Fire Department (YFD) crews responded to a structure fire today, Tuesday, June 18th, in the 1000 block of 9th Avenue. (It is the practice of the Yakima Fire Department to not release the specific address of a private home involved in a fire or other emergency response)
YFD responded to the call at 2:11 pm today and found a detached garage on fire. The fire was fully involved, with charged electrical lines on the ground. The roof of the garage collapsed while firefighters extinguished the blaze. There were no injuries.
The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The initial estimated dollar loss was $50,000.
Approximately 18 YFD firefighters were on scene responding to the fire. YFD’s response to the fire also included four engines, one ladder truck, one rehab unit and two chief officers.
