A structure fire early this morning, Friday, October 8th, in the 200 block of North 30th Avenue displaced a family and caused an estimated $350,000 in damages. No injuries were reported.
Yakima Fire Department (YFD) firefighters were called to the scene at 3:10 am Friday. They found a fire involving a single-family home. Crews were able to contain the fire to the front half of the house.
The family that lived in the house had evacuated and re-located to the neighbor’s house.
The fire caused major structural damage, with the loss estimated at $300,000. All contents of the house were considered a loss, estimated at $50,000.
A discarded cigarette was the fire’s probable cause.
Sixteen firefighters responded. Crews were on scene for about 90 minutes.
