Chris Hutsell is the new Deputy Chief for the Yakima Fire Department (YFD).
“It is exciting to have Chris on board as Deputy Fire Chief,” said Fire Chief Aaron Markham. “This brings us up to full staffing in that role and helps share the workload.”
Prior to joining YFD, Hutsell was Deputy Chief at Kittitas County Fire District 7 in Cle Elum. Prior to that, he was with Kennewick Fire Department for over 25 years and held the rank of Captain before he left.
Hutsell has a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Service Administration from Eastern Oregon University and a Master’s degree in Public Safety Leadership and Administration.
He is part of the Northwest Incident Management Team 2 as an Incident Commander, which is a National Incident Management Team
Hutsell began his new role as YFD Deputy Chief in May. YFD operates with two deputy chiefs, with D.J. Goldsmith serving as the Operations Chief and Hutsell as the Administration Chief.
