Yakima Fire Department (YFD) crews responded yesterday, Sunday, April 14th, to a fire in the 100 block of North 16th Avenue.
YFD responded to the call at 11:02 pm last night and found light smoke coming from the eaves of the residence. Because of the conditions encountered, the Company Officer requested a second company to respond and SunComm dispatched a second company to the incident.
Firefighters encountered an active fire on the first floor. It was quickly extinguished and the incident was cleared at 1:00 am this morning, Monday, April 15th.
Fire damage to the home impacted electrical service and three of the rooms. The home was not habitable due to fire damaging the electrical wiring. Four adults were displaced and the Red Cross provided assistance.
No injuries were reported.
The initial estimated dollar loss was $15,000. The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation at this time.
Approximately 13 YFD firefighters were on scene responding to the fire.
The Yakima Police Department provided mutual aid.
